8 Week Mindfulness Program

Our 8-week course is a one-on-one private session that runs for 90 minutes once a week, over 8 consecutive weeks.

The gold-standards of mindfulness training are the eight week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn and his colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and the eight week Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) course, developed by Segal, Williams and Teasdale at Oxford University. These two programs account for the largest portion of  research data that has contributed to the scientific understanding of mindfulness and meditation practice in recent years.  The program we typically teach At the Nurtured Mind is a combination of these two reputable and highly effective courses.

The training provided during this 8-week course enables participants to shift their perception and see things differently. This directly leads to them being able to undo mental, physical knots and tensions. It helps increase their sense of personal confidence, of having more options and greater resilience to face a variety of challenges in their day-to-day lives.

Most people completing eight week mindfulness courses report that they gain long lasting benefits, such as:

Apart from the time participants spend in class, it is essential that they commit to completing between 20 and 30 minutes of home practice each day for six days of each week that the course runs. This is often broken up into two sessions a day, so each meditation sitting at home is usually no longer than 15minutes. The content that relates to their home practice is provided via email after each class. This email includes MP3 guided meditation audio recordings made exclusively by The Nurtured Mind.
